Coloured Gemstones offer distinctive Engagement Rings 

Millennial buyers are not just looking for rare colourless diamonds; they seek birthstones from classic designer items. Birthstone engagement rings are becoming the new trend where some affordable stones like amethysts, topaz, garnets, aquamarines, alexandrite, and tourmaline are most sought after by buyers. 

Etsy claimed more than 34K searches were made for such birthstone engagement rings in the last three months. The buyers typically searched for unique styles and far more affordable gemstones. 

The change in desirability trends changed how classic rings were bought, as some millennials are buying semi-precious stones to get affordable options. Still, the natural ones are always considered the best as their resale value increases with time. 

Some rare ones showcased in the collection of rich luxury buyers can get interested parties, offering a higher rate for rare natural gems. 

The year 2019 is unique in how many traditional buying norms have been changed by the new buyers who want to express their emotions through personal customized styles instead of adopting the pre-established ways. 

Some of the most celebrity engagement rings of the year are JLo's emerald-cut sparkler and Jennifer Lawrence's emerald-cut solitaire.  

These coloured stones with unique cuts look classic. Still, they are modernists with rare geometric shapes and graphics in cutting-edge designs, expected to gain desirability like some rare celebrity-owned vintage jewellery.

Sapphires can be found in other colours like yellow, black, rainbow colours, green, white, and pink, but blue ones are the most durable. Rubies are rich red and are considered particularly beautiful when paired with a wedding band or necklace. 

Emerald is priced with natural green hues that create connectivity to eternity. Its elegant designs and shapes, like round, oval, and pear, can enhance emotions. 

The rarest Blue Sapphires 

Blue sapphires dominate the market due to their rich, deep colour and luxurious, sophisticated glance, giving them a regal look. Historically, it was famous with the Royals, showcased by celebrities and held by kings as wedding rings, engagement rings, and embedded in jewellery and earrings. 

One of the most famous was the one held by Princess Diana, passed on to Kate Middleton. Such stones have always been valuable and continue to gain with time in terms of valuation. 

Millennial buyers are seeking unusual-coloured gemstones and pearls, and some new stones are available at a price almost 90 per cent lower than diamonds. 

Such stones offer the opportunity to buy engagement rings at a low price. Aquamarine has been associated with the sea due to the blue colour and solitaire setting, and Morganite is a bluish-pink piece that can be paired with diamonds. 

Many such natural ones are exceptionally rare, with limited mine resources. Some of these compositions are created in labs and are available in the market for a low price as lab-grown promoted for exceptional quality and conflict-free.
